Every feature and command.

Four pages. Today · Tasks · Jot · Calendar. The app always opens on Today.

Page switcher. Mac and iPad: a centred segmented control in a 52 pt top bar; the Tasks segment shows the pending count. iPhone and narrow iPad windows: a bottom tab bar with a small ink dot above the active page.

Modals. One at a time; Esc, the scrim, or the sheet handle closes it.

Settings open from the round sun button at the top-right of Today, and from ⌘K or the Mac menu.

Deep links. fluid://open/<page>, fluid://quick/note, fluid://quick/task, fluid://focus[/id], fluid://note/<id>, fluid://task/<id> (the row highlights for 2.5 s), fluid://event/<id> (opens the next occurrence). Widgets, Spotlight and notifications all use these.

Greeting (“Good morning / afternoon / evening”) over the long date (“Tuesday 8 September”).

The Now line under the date, refreshed every 30 s: “Focusing: Essay · 12:07”, “Standup · ends in 20 min”, “Lunch in 12 min”, “Design review at 4:30 pm”, “Next: Essay · 2 more due”, “Nothing more today · 3 pending”. On the page it appears only when something is timely; the all-day and nothing-scheduled variants are reserved for the menu bar and widgets.

Stats row. “N pending · N done today · N events”.

Schedule card. Today's events with a time column (“5 pm” / “All day”), a thin priority-style bar, title, up to 3 lines of notes, a location line with a map pin that opens Apple Maps, the first line of any attached note, and a trailing label (Event / Weekly / Block / the Apple calendar's name). A time block for a task shows a tick circle instead of a bar; ticking it ticks the task. Tap a row to edit. Header buttons: Share day and + Event.

Share day. “As image” renders a clean 420 pt card (date, SCHEDULE, TASKS, “Fluid” footer) at 2×; “As text” gives a plain list with “○” bullets. Both go through the system share sheet.

Up next card. A quick-add row (“Add a task, press Enter”; Enter adds a medium-priority task), then up to 6 pending tasks, due today or overdue first, then by priority, then newest. Each row: tick circle, 3 pt priority bar, title (with a faint dot and “Open its note” when a note is attached), due badge. “All tasks →” jumps to Tasks. Empty: “All clear.”

Drop a task on the Schedule card (Mac, iPad) to block time for it at the next free hour.

Header and filters. Stats “N pending · N done”. Chips All · High · Medium · Low. A mode switch Show done / ← Back to pending (iPhone: Done / Pending). Pending and done are never mixed.

Quick-add row with a High / Med / Low picker. When a priority filter is active the picker reads “Adds as High” and new tasks inherit that priority.

Task rows. Tick circle (hover ring, spring animation), 3 pt priority bar, title (URLs clickable), description (2 lines, links clickable), the Reminders list name for Apple-sourced tasks, a Focus / Focusing text button on hover (Mac, iPad), and a due badge: “Today” and “Tomorrow” in bold ink, “Overdue” in a pill, later dates as “Thu 10 Sept”.

Complete with Undo. After ticking a task a “Task completed · Undo” strip appears for 1.5 s. Done rows sit at 55 % opacity with strikethrough; ticking again returns them to pending.

Context menu (right-click / long-press): Focus on this / Stop focusing, Open note, Delete task.

New task modal (⌘N): Title, PRIORITY High / Medium / Low, “Add task”. Deliberately no date field; due dates come from the Quick task palette, Apple Reminders, or a time block.

A task is a title (≤500 characters), description, priority (default medium), optional due date, done and done-at, source (Fluid or Apple), list name. Deleting a task deletes its time blocks and detaches its note.

One task at a time per device. The session survives relaunch; completing the task ends it.

Start from a row's hover button, its context menu, ⌘K (“Focus on a task”, or ↩ on a task), ⇧⌘F, the Mac menu bar, fluid://focus/<id>, or on iPhone by touch-and-hold → “Focus on this”.

What you see. Mac: a floating Focus pill above every app. iPad: a persistent focus bar under the page. iPhone: a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

The Now line reads “Focusing: <task>” with the elapsed time everywhere it appears.

Share. Every note, image and PDF has Share. Enter an @username and that person gets the same note in their Jot under the Shared filter: “Shared by @you” on their card, “Shared with @them” on yours.

Everyone edits at the same time, Google-Docs style. Each keystroke becomes a small operation (retain / insert / delete) sent against the version you have; the server orders edits and returns anything you missed, which the client transforms its own work against and resends. Remote edits are swapped into your editor in place; your caret, scroll and undo are untouched. Typing never waits on the network.

Live dot shows the connection (“Edits show up for everyone as they happen” / “Connecting…”). @mentions: in a shared note, typing “@” offers up to 5 members and the owner.

Roles. The owner alone sets category and attachments, can delete (gone for all) or remove anyone; members edit title and body and can Leave. Titles are last-write-wins.

Share panel. SHARE WITH A FLUID USER (@ field), SHARED WITH (member pills with × to stop sharing), RECENT (last 8 recipients, one tap to reshare). Export via the system share sheet is still there: text notes as plain text; image and PDF notes offer “Text” or the file.

Safety. Unsent edits are checkpointed to disk and resumed on relaunch; if a note is deleted or access is revoked while you have unsent text, it is preserved as a “Recovered jot”. Server limit 120 shares per hour; you can't share with yourself; body ≤200,000 characters; a day of edit history per note.

Usernames. 3–20 characters (letters, digits, underscore), lowercased, unique across Fluid.

Header. Month and year, round ‹ · Today · › controls. ←/→ keys change week (Mac, iPad); swipe the strip on iPhone.

Week strip. 7 cells with weekday, day number and up to 3 dots (events and due tasks). Week start follows Settings (Mon / Sun).

Day agenda merges events and due tasks (all-day first, then by time; tasks by priority). Rows show time, bar or tick circle, title, notes, location (opens Maps), attached-note line, and a trailing label (Event / Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Block / the Apple calendar's name; tasks show “Task” or “Reminder”). Empty: “No events or tasks.”

Row context menu. Focus on this task, Duplicate (copies onto the selected day and opens it), Delete event, Delete task.

Drag (Mac, iPad): an event onto a day moves it (its Apple Calendar mirror follows); ⌥-drag copies (Mac only); a task onto a day becomes a time block at the next free hour.

Find a gap. 30 min / 1 h / 2 h lists free ranges for the next 7 days between 9:00 and 18:00, aligned to quarter hours, labelled Today / Tomorrow / “Thu 10 Sept”. One tap opens the event modal on that slot. Empty: “No gaps this week between 9 and 6.”

Event modal (“New event” / “Event” / “Block time”): Title, Notes, Location with Apple Maps autocomplete (up to 3 suggestions, biased to your location within 40 km if allowed; picking one stores coordinates so the pin opens the exact place and travels to Apple Calendar as a structured location), DATE, All day / Timed, START / END (end auto-bumps to start + 60), REPEAT None / Daily / Weekly / Monthly, a NOTE row if a note is attached, and Delete with inline confirm. Saving jumps the calendar to that date. Blocks show “Time for: <task>” with a tick circle; ticking the block ticks the task and vice versa.

Quick note (⌘/ on Mac and iPad, Siri on iOS): Title / Caption, B I U • 1., “Jot something…”, category chips, Attach (pick or drop an image or PDF: “Drop image or PDF to attach”). ⇧↩ saves, Esc discards. A caption plus attachment becomes an image or PDF note. Untitled text goes into Today's jot.

Quick task (⌘,): “What needs doing?”, Low / Medium / High, a due chip with a calendar (Today · Tomorrow · Next week · Clear) and dates in plain words as you type: today, tonight, tomorrow / tmrw, weekday names, “next fri”, “next week”, “next month”, “in 3 days”, “in 2 weeks”, “eow”, “weekend”, “14 sept” / “sept 14”, with on / by / due / for absorbed. A “from ‘friday’” chip says which words did it; × keeps them as words. ↩ saves. This is the only place a due date is typed by hand.

Chips. key:value, OR within a key, AND across keys. Jot: type: text / pdf / image, is: shared / pinned / daily, tag:<name>, date: today / yesterday / past-week / past-month / past-year. Tasks: priority:, status: pending / done, due: overdue / today / tomorrow / next-week.

Matching. Case- and diacritic-insensitive; title matches outrank body; words of 4+ letters get one-edit fuzzy matching unless quoted. Body text includes tag names, sharer and extracted PDF / OCR text.

Field UI. Facet chips with icons and ×, a filter menu grouped by key, inline suggestions while typing (up to 7, with synonyms like “last week”), ↑↓ / Return to accept, Backspace removes the last chip.

Spotlight. Pending tasks, notes (text, PDF, image, with tags as keywords) and recent or recurring events are indexed on every platform; a Spotlight result opens the item in Fluid. Cleared on sign-out.

Switch. Settings → Reminders On / Off, stored on your profile; each device asks for its own permission.

Timing. Timed events: 5 minutes before (“Starts at 5 pm at <location>. <notes>”), marked time-sensitive so they break through Focus. All-day events and due tasks: 8:55 on the day (“Due today, high priority”).

Horizon. 14 days, up to 60 pending, rescheduled every 30 min and on data changes. Banners show even while Fluid is in front; tapping opens the item.

Focus filter “Fluid reminders” (System Settings → Focus → a Focus → Add Filter → Fluid): the single switch “Hold task reminders” holds the 8:55 task reminders while that Focus is on; event reminders still arrive.

Connect. Settings → Apple Reminders → Connect. Two-way with the Reminders app. Fluid tasks go into your default Reminders list (no separate “Fluid” list); reminders from any list appear in Tasks with their list name under the title.

What syncs. Title, notes, due date, priority (Fluid medium ↔ no priority, so the list doesn't fill with “!!”), completion and deletion, both ways. Deleting in either app deletes in the other.

Conflicts. An unchanged side never overwrites the other; otherwise the newer edit wins.

Multi-device. One mirror per Reminders store; devices on one iCloud account share it; a device that can't see another's mirror waits 2 minutes, then makes its own. Runs on every EventKit change, on foreground, when an item arrives from another device, and every 5 minutes.

Scope. The connect switch lives on your account (every device follows); access is granted per device (“Allow”). Reminders tags aren't exposed by Apple's API, so they don't cross.

Connect. Settings → Apple Calendar → Connect. Events from every calendar on that device (−30 to +90 days, recurring ones expanded) appear in Fluid on every device, labelled with their calendar name, including location and coordinates.

Writing back. Events created in Fluid are written to a “Fluid” calendar (iCloud if available) with simple daily / weekly / monthly recurrence and structured locations. Edits and deletions in Fluid write back to the Apple event or occurrence; deleting a mirrored event in Apple Calendar deletes it in Fluid.

Custom repeat rules are left alone (“This event has a custom repeat rule. Edit its schedule in Apple Calendar.”). Same mirror, grace and conflict scheme as Reminders.

LOOK. Appearance Light / Dark; Week starts on Mon / Sun; Title font, 15 bundled fonts for headings only (body stays the system font): Manrope (default), Inter, DM Sans, Instrument Sans, Figtree, Playfair Display, Syne, Space Mono, Unbounded, Abril Fatface, Bodoni Moda, Major Mono Display, Monoton, Bungee Shade, Rubik Glitch.

REMINDERS. On / Off with the timing hint.

CONNECTIONS. Username (“@” field, “For sharing”); Apple Reminders and Apple Calendar (Connect → Allow / Sync now / Disconnect; “Connected · synced 3 min ago”).

ACCOUNT. Initial avatar, display name, email; Sign out; Delete account → inline “Everything is erased. Keep / Delete”. Rows cascade, files are removed, the auth user is deleted, local caches are wiped.

Follows you. Theme, font, reminders, the Apple switches, pins and recent share recipients are stored on the profile, so they follow you across Mac, iPad and iPhone. Footer: Privacy Policy · Terms of Service (in-app) · “Fluid 2.0”.

This Mac. The Mac adds a General / This Mac switch; This Mac holds Clipboard · Displays · Dock · System.

Sign in with Apple only: one 48 pt “Continue with Apple” button under the logo, wordmark and the line “Tasks, notes and calendar in one calm place.” Name and email scopes; name captured on first authorisation; Hide My Email works. Sessions persist in the Keychain.

Single window with a transparent title bar; fluid:// links, widget clicks and Dock clicks reuse it. Double-click the title strip (or use the zoom button) for the standard 1102 × 712 frame. Minimum 720 × 520.

Keeps running with the window closed. Sync, capture shortcuts, menu bar, pill and utilities all stay live. App Nap is disabled. Clicking the Dock icon reopens the window. Open Fluid at login is a toggle in Settings → This Mac → System, with guidance if macOS needs approval.

Keyboard. 1–4 switch pages (so do A and D, one page left or right; the faint letters beside the page switcher say so), ←/→ move weeks, ⌘N new item for the current page, ⌘/ Quick note, ⌘, Quick task, ⌘K Search and Do, ⇧⌘F Focus on a task, Esc closes. The menu bar exposes the same commands.

Liquid Glass on macOS 26 (Tahoe) for the pill, capture palettes, switcher, Dock and clipboard shelf, with a material fallback on macOS 14–15. Reduce Transparency and Reduce Motion are honoured everywhere. Hover states, tooltips, native context menus, haptics on task completion.

Requirements. macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel. Permissions are asked in context: Accessibility (capture, previews, badges, layouts), Screen Recording (thumbnails), Finder automation (Empty Trash).

One field that finds tasks, notes and events and takes the verbs: New task, New note, New event, Focus on a task / Stop focusing, Today, Tasks, Jot, Calendar, Quick note, Quick task, Settings.

Create by typing. “task buy milk”, “note …”, “event …” (also “todo”, “add task”, “jot”, “meeting”) creates the item straight away.

Results. Up to 9, with a kind label (Task / Done / Jot / PDF / Image / Event). ↑↓ move, ↩ acts (on a task: focus; on a note or event: open), ⌘↩ ticks a task, Esc closes. Power Search chips work here too. “Focus on a task” keeps the palette open and turns the list into the tasks to pick from.

Capsule. When a focus session starts, a 352 × 44 pt Liquid Glass capsule floats above every app and Space: a round Done button, the task title, a live monospaced clock, and a round Stop button.

Position. Drag it anywhere; it remembers its corner across sessions (default: top-right of the main display).

Note beneath. If the task has a note, a small dot appears; click the title and the note unfolds beneath the pill (editable, “Saved · edits sync after 300 ms”); click again to fold it away.

Hide. ⌥ F F while focusing hides or shows the pill without stopping the clock. In the app, ⇧⌘F.

Item. Always reads “Fluid”. Toggle “Show in the menu bar” (default on). Hover shows the Now line as a tooltip.

Panel. Click opens a 320 pt panel with a Today | Displays switch. Today: the Now line with a live timer plus Done / Stop while focusing; Schedule (first 4 events, click to open); Up next (4 tasks with tick, priority bar and a Focus button); buttons Note · Task · Focus / Stop focus · Open Fluid; and, when the Dock or switcher is on, a Windows & Dock menu (Window Switcher, Restore Window Layout, Dock Profile ▸, Edit Dock, Dock Settings…).

Drop things on it. An image (jpg / png / heic / gif / tiff / webp) or PDF becomes a file note; an http(s) link becomes a note titled with the host; multi-line or >80-character text becomes a note (first line → title); short text goes into today's jot. It flashes “Added to Jot” / “Added to today's jot”.

Keys. Hold ⌥ and press Tab to switch between all windows; ⌥` switches between the current app's windows. Both are re-recordable (must include ⌘, ⌃ or ⌥; Shift is reserved for going backwards).

Replace ⌘Tab (optional): ⌘Tab opens Fluid's switcher instead of Apple's; ⇧⌘Tab goes backwards. “Until then the normal app switcher stays.”

Behaviour. Press again to advance, ⇧ to reverse, release the modifier to switch. Opened from the menu bar it stays until Return / click / Esc. Show: All windows / This display / This space.

Two layouts. A compact single row for up to 5 windows; a paged 4 × 2 grid (8 per page) beyond that. Centred on the pointer's display, floats above full-screen apps, Liquid Glass on macOS 26.

Tiles. App icon, title, and a state label for Minimised, Hidden or Other Space. Order is by most-recently-focused and frozen for the session.

Type to search (app name and title, diacritic-insensitive). Keys: Tab / ⇧Tab or ←/→, ↑/↓ by row, Page Up / Down, Home / End, Return, Esc. Window actions: ⌘W Close · ⌘M Minimise · ⌘H Hide · ⌘F Full Screen · ⌘Q Quit (the footer legend lists them). Right-click a tile for the same.

Live previews at up to 4 fps, 480 × 288, cursor hidden; stills above 2 % CPU for 2 s or in Low Power Mode (“Prefer still images” setting). Appearance System / Light / Dark.

Permissions. Accessibility required to switch; Screen Recording optional (icons otherwise). Pauses during Secure Input (“Leave the password field to resume”). Tiny windows, system dialogs and phantom browser surfaces are filtered out.

Shelf. ⌘⇧V opens a translucent horizontal shelf along the bottom of the pointer's display, without activating Fluid or raising its window; it remembers which app was in front so it can paste back into it. Esc, an outside click or a Space change closes it; state is kept if reopened within 60 s.

Cards (220 × 220): Text, Rich text (rendered with real attributes on a paper preview), Code (monospaced with keyword styling), Image (thumbnail on a checkerboard), Link (title and thumbnail fetched from the site), Colour (hex swatch), File (references, never copies), and opaque Content. Each shows its kind, relative time, source app icon, and a measurement (“1,234 characters”, “1920 × 1080”, “3 files”).

Search (⌘/ or just start typing) with chips type: text / rich / image / link / file / pdf / code / colour, app:, board:, is:pinned, date:. Images are OCR'd on device so you can search their text.

Selection. Click one; ⇧-click a range; ⌘-click toggles; ←/→ move, ⇧←/→ extend.

Paste. ↩ closes the shelf and pastes the selection into the previous app in row order, 650 ms between cards (needs Accessibility; otherwise it copies and says so). ⇧↩ pastes plain text. ⌥↩ copies instead. ⌘1–⌘9 paste the Nth visible card. ⌘C copies the selection as native multi-item pasteboard items and keeps the shelf open (100 MB combined limit). Used cards move to the front.

Inspector. Space opens it: a real rich editor for text (B/I/U, Find, spell check, word count, Save ⌘↩), Fit / Actual size for images, a sandboxed website preview for links with “Open in browser”.

Pinboards. Named boards as tabs; drag a card onto a board; five tonal shades; rename, reorder, delete. Pinned items never expire. ⌥P pins.

Sequences. Queue cards (⌘+ or the card menu), then ⌃⇧⌘V pastes the next one each press with the shelf closed (“k of N”). With no queue, it walks the 5 most recent cards oldest-first.

Retention and limits. 48 hours, 100 unpinned cards, 25 MB per item, 1 GB total; duplicates merge.

Privacy. Everything on disk is AES-GCM encrypted with a device-only Keychain key (never synced, excluded from backup). Skips concealed / transient pasteboard markers and copies from password managers (1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass, Dashlane, Enpass, KeePassXC, Apple Passwords, Proton Pass). Pauses on sleep and lock. Pause / Resume capture; Clear history; Delete all data (also removes the key).

Honest limit. macOS gives no receipt that a destination app consumed a synthetic paste, and the shelf's screen-capture exclusion is best-effort.

Brightness for external monitors over DDC/CI on Apple silicon (including the HDMI MCDP bridge) and Intel; built-in displays use native brightness. Monitors that can't be controlled get software dimming instead. One continuous slider: below 15 % the hardware sits at minimum and a click-through shade adds “Extra dim” (never past 90 %, so you can always see).

Volume and mute per display: native CoreAudio where available, DDC volume for HDMI monitors without it. A Sound output picker sets the system default output.

Keys. Brightness keys act on the display under the pointer, in 1/16 steps; ⇧⌥ for fine 1/64 steps. Volume and mute keys are intercepted only when the current output has no native volume. A glass HUD at the top of the target display shows the level (“Muted”, “Extra dim”, “Software dimming”).

Match Mac brightness. Keep external displays at your Mac's brightness, ramping gently (faster up than down). A manual change pauses matching for 30 minutes (“Paused until 3:45 PM” · Resume).

Arrangement. A live arena in Settings shows each display as a wallpaper thumbnail. Drag to arrange (snaps, pushes out of overlaps, written to macOS), click to select, ⌥-click sets the main display, drag the white menu-bar strip to move the menu bar.

Menu bar panel → Displays: sound output, per-display sliders, Resume matching, Rescan, Display settings. A contrast slider appears only if the monitor reports it.

Honest limits. Verified on one AOC monitor over HDMI and on the built-in display; input switching is not offered.

Layout. A bottom tab bar, Today · Tasks · Jot · Calendar, each a small dot over a label; always opens on Today. Titles at 28 pt, tighter padding, Schedule and Up next stacked. The keyboard dismisses interactively as you scroll. 44 pt minimum touch targets throughout. Light / Dark from the in-app setting (widgets follow it); portrait and landscape.

Bottom sheets for every modal except Settings and Focus: a 22 pt top radius, a grab handle, spring animation (fades under Reduce Motion). Only the handle drags, so scrolling a PDF or selecting text never dismisses. Drag down to close; drag the note editor up to go full height. Tap the scrim to close. Small panels (Share, Attach, Find a gap, Gist) are fitted system sheets.

Long-press menus on task rows (Focus on this / Stop focusing, Open note, Delete task), agenda rows (Focus, Duplicate, Delete event / task), Jot cards (Open, Pin / Unpin, Delete note… / Leave shared note), and tag chips (Delete tag / Delete tag and its N notes). Swipe the week strip left or right to change week.

Phone-sized controls. Quick-add says “Add a task”; the priority picker is a compact menu; the done switch reads Done / Pending; Jot's + is a single accent circle with Note · Image · PDF; capture sheets focus the title and show a plain Save.

Notes. The editor is a bottom sheet (80 % → full height on drag); the format toolbar scrolls horizontally; link chips (“↗ domain/path”, up to 4) above the body. PDFs flip like a book, one page at a time, with a “3 / 120” counter and pinch to zoom. Images run edge to edge in a sheet shaped to the picture. Photos picker for images, Files for PDFs.

Focus. Touch and hold a task → Focus on this. The session shows as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; the in-app focus panel shows the task, the timer, Stop focusing and Finish task (“No task in focus — Touch and hold a task to start focusing.” otherwise).

Live Activity. Task title, a count-up clock, and two buttons, Stop focusing and Finish task, that work without opening the app (if Fluid isn't running the action is saved and applied on next launch; a stale button can never end a newer session). Dynamic Island: compact leading shows a scope glyph, trailing shows the clock; expanded shows the title with the clock and buttons; minimal shows the glyph. Tap to open Fluid on the focus.

Lock Screen widgets. Today rectangular (the Now line plus the top up-next task, “○ Essay”) and Today inline (just the Now line: “Standup in 12 min”, “Focusing: Essay”, “Nothing scheduled today”).

System. Siri / App Shortcuts (iOS 18+): “Quick note in Fluid”, “Quick task in Fluid”, “Focus in Fluid”, the on-phone way into the quick palettes (there is no ⌘K on iPhone). Notifications open the task or event, including from a cold start. Focus filter “Fluid reminders”. Spotlight indexing. Share sheet out: Share day (image or text), note export (text / PDF / image), share to a Fluid user. Maps suggestions near you. Apple Reminders / Apple Calendar two-way sync. Sign in with Apple, in-app account deletion, Privacy Policy and Terms in-app. Hardware keyboard, if attached: ⌘N, ⌘/, ⌘,, ⌘1–⌘4, ←/→ on Calendar. No analytics or crash SDKs; local notifications only; no background modes.

Local-first. Every change applies on the device immediately, is queued on disk, and flushed in order to the server. Works fully offline; retries with backoff on the next launch or foreground. Nothing is discarded.

Realtime keeps Mac, iPad and iPhone in step; a row with unflushed local edits is never overwritten by an incoming echo. Full refresh on foreground.

Attachments live in a private bucket under your user id (25 MB each; JPEG / PNG / HEIC / PDF), with a local file cache and pre-rendered card covers. Members of a shared note can read its file.

Security. Everything is protected by row-level security. Sign in with Apple; account deletion removes rows, files and the auth user. Widgets and Live Activities use a shared snapshot and a file-locked outbox so the app and its extensions never race.

Monochrome, no accent colour anywhere. “Accent” is near-black in light and near-white in dark. Priority is three greys of a 3 pt bar. Two themes, 23 tokens.

Type. System font for UI; your chosen display font for titles only.

Shapes. Cards and modals at 16 pt radius, iPhone sheets 22 pt, chips fully round. No platform button chrome.
